On the 25th May the Barry Satchell Consultants Team took on the challenge of competitive axe throwing, with Sweet Axe, a specialist event organisation, followed by drinks and dinner at a neighbouring restaurant.
As part of the experience, we were taught how to correctly throw both small and large axes, using double- and single-handed techniques, towards a vertical target approximately 12 feet away. While we were all self-proclaimed novices, everyone successfully picked up the techniques; we would like to confirm, that no fingers or toes were sacrificed.
Once practice was over, the battle started, and completion among our team was fierce. A final was played out between the two Chris’, which was won in a hard-fought battle by Chris Aiken.
This event is highly recommended, and if you are in Auckland, Upper Hutt or Wellington, and want to experience this historical but exhilarating sport, get in touch with the team at Sweet Axe.
